Description
Title: A Reexamination of a Macroeconomic Controversy: The Multiplier–Accelerator Effect
Abstract: This paper provides bibliometric analysis of a Keynesian and neoclassical discussion of the multiplier–accelerator effect. With origins dating back to the 1930s, the 1960s and 1970s saw a heightened focus on discussions regarding the relationship between current investment and economic growth (the accelerator effect). We also analyze the Hicks– Samuelson contribution, also known as the multiplier–accelerator model, using bibliometrics. We identified, among other things, the most pertinent authors on the topics, the economic areas to which the most contributions have been made through keyword analysis, and the most noteworthy contributions through citation analysis. We concluded that the discussion surrounding the multiplier–accelerator effect has benefited several areas of economics, particularly the business cycle, structural dynamics, and public finance.
