Description
Title: Where Shall We Go This Summer by Anita Desai contains the “Sita Myth,” which is a reflection of the Ramayana.
Abstract: The dominant image of Sita and Savitri from Indian mythology is promoted by society. These images of women highlight the fundamentals of Indian culture via their stories, such as how Sita submitted to Ram, followed him into the jungle, and once more endured her exile in silence. Modern literature that offers a new interpretation of the old “Sita Myth” include echoes of Sita’s disobedient voice. In Anita Desai’s Where Shall We Go This Summer? The main character Sita is a neurotic figure who resists male dominance but ultimately accepts the home ties. The current study looks at how the novel depicts the “Sita Myth” and how it is changed and reconstructed under diverse conditions.
