Title: Vietnamese Trade Openness and Inward Foreign Direct Investment: A Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag Approach
Abstract: This study uses NARDL (nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag) to analyze the asymmetric relationship between trade openness and FDI (foreign direct investment) inflows to Vietnam between 1997 and 2019. Our findings demonstrate that the short- and long-term effects of FDI on trade openness are asymmetric. However, the relationship between trade openness and FDI is asymmetric over the long term and symmetric over the short term.
