Description
Title: The study’s main contribution is… An examination of contributions made in English-language research articles that have been published and L2 manuscripts
Abstract: Because English is used so frequently for the international dissemination of academic research findings, many intercultural evaluations have been carried out in the field of English for Academic Purposes in various genres. These evaluations focus on how English can communicate effectively across cultures. The results of these assessments have been analyzed using several different approaches. Research has been conducted on the rhetorical and discursive practices of a diverse range of languages and cultures to assist individuals whose first language is not English to achieve success in the difficult process of being accepted for publication in international publications written in the English language. Because it is becoming increasingly challenging to have one’s research published in an international publication written in English, authors are now required to make it abundantly apparent what contribution they have made to the domains in which they are working. It appears that this method of persuasion is very important at present, particularly in various fields of work. This article will analyze research articles on finance published in two international journals to compare the findings of those articles to those of three English-language manuscripts written by a group of Spanish academics that were submitted to the same journals but received major revision or rejection reports. This article aims to analyze research articles on finance that have been published in international journals to compare the findings of those articles to those of those articles. As will also be examined in this article, the results of the three English-language manuscripts do not match those of the research articles on finance published in international magazines. This is something that will be covered more in this article. The primary purpose of this study is to investigate claims of the contribution made in the introduction and conclusion parts of research articles that have been published in such publications. References to these comments, which were made by the reviewers and included in their reports, will also be used to determine the extent to which the reviewers’ disregard for this rhetorical tactic may have influenced their ultimate decision (or lack thereof) regarding whether or not to recommend the article be published. The purpose is to determine the degree to which the reviewers’ distaste for this rhetorical ploy may have played a role in their conclusion.”
