Title: The Potential of Muonic Ion Spectral Lines for Nuclear Shape Measuring
Abstract: For non-spherical nuclear shapes like the oblate or prolate ellipsoid of revolution, we analytically calculated the shift of the spectral lines of hydrogenlike ions. We demonstrate how, in comparison to the corresponding shift for spherical nuclei, the allowance for the ellipsoidal nuclear shape can change the shift of spectral lines of muonic hydrogenlike ions by several times. This can be used as an additional method for the experimental determination of a nucleus’ quadrupole moment and the standard beta-parameter associated with it.
Keywords: spectral line shift; muonic ions; nuclear shapes; nuclear quadrupole moment
