Title: The Colour Purple by Alice Walker: A Means to Achieve Female Freedom through Solidarity and the Writing Idea
Abstract: The major goal of this study project is to pinpoint the actions that Celie, “the protagonist of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple, took. Goes through her journey to achieve freedom. The first source of Celie’s freedom is the support and wonderful role models she receives from the female community. Celie’s ability to express herself and help herself let go of all the agony she has endured comes through her letter-writing, which is her second source of liberation. Both of these sources contribute to Celie’s freedom. Physical, spiritual, and financial milestones are reached during Celie’s journey toward independence, completed with founding her own business. She believes that the oppressive conditions. Afro-American women face in their communities are caused by racism and the patriarchal system. Alice Walker proposes “womanism” as the ideal.”
