Title: Techniques for Dealing with Stress: The Balance of Cell Cycle and Apoptosis Pathways is Determined by p38 MAPK

Abstract: Protein signaling networks are created when numerous, interconnected cell signaling pathways come together to form regulatory and functional webs. These signaling pathways conduct molecular messages as well as receive them, frequently through a series of post-translational modifications like phosphorylation or through protein-protein interactions via intrinsic motifs. The mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are parts of kinase cascades, which use phosphorylation to transmit signals. The stress-activated protein kinases, also known as the p38 family in mammals, are one of the many MAPK subfamilies. The p38 enzymes play a role in a number of cellular processes, such as DNA repair, cell fate determination, and cell cycle arrest. DNA replication, chromosome segregation, and cellular division are all precisely controlled by the cell cycle, which is also a signaling system. Programmed cell death is a crucial cell function that is influenced by the p38 stress response (apoptosis). The dynamics of the BCL2 family of proteins, which regulate cell survival, are incredibly sensitive to cell stress. The balance of binding between the anti-apoptotic and pro-apoptotic members of the BCL2 family, which forms a protein-protein interaction network, determines cell survival. Here, we talk about how the cell cycle, apoptosis, and p38 MAPK signaling pathways interact.
