Title: Targeting Microglia Activation for Biomolecular Intervention and Imaging of Neuropathic Pain
Abstract: Cancer is one condition that can cause neuropathic pain (NP). NP is one of the accompanying symptoms of many illnesses, and it has a significant impact on the patient’s quality of life. The results of clinical treatments have been incredibly unsatisfactory because of complex causes. Numerous experts have discovered that neuron-microglia interaction is crucial to the emergence and development of NP. As a result, the focus of NP research has shifted to the activation of microglia, associated inflammatory mediators, and molecular and cellular signaling pathways. Advanced pre- and clinical studies have been conducted with the aid of contemporary functional imaging technology, and NP interventions have been tried using various pharmaceuticals and the extracted active components of various traditional herbal medicines. In this communication, we discuss the impact of microglia on NP development and therapy as well as the use of molecular imaging technology for clinical diagnosis and NP therapy evaluation.
