Title: Recent Developments in Biomass Conversation for Biofuels Application: Microbial Beta Glucosidase Enzymes
Abstract: The production of biofuels from biomass is a green, sustainable, and cutting-edge method for addressing the current environmental problems brought on by fossil fuels. The synthesis of biofuels from biomass is an enzyme-mediated process, and -glucosidase (BGL) enzymes play a significant part in biomass hydrolysis by converting cellulose-based oligosaccharides into monomeric sugars. However, the creation and availability of these enzymes acknowledge their significant contribution to the overall increase in production costs of biomass to biofuels technology. As a result, the current review’s main objective is to assess the production and effectiveness of -glucosidase enzymes in the bioconversion of cellulosic biomass for the production of biofuel on an industrial scale, as well as to provide information on their mechanism and classification. Along with recent advancements and current issues, the use of BGL enzymes in the biomass conversion process has been discussed. In addition, recent developments in the field as well as the development and production of microbial BGL enzymes have been thoroughly explained. Last but not least, future developments have been given future suggestions and current obstacles. This study is likely to establish a standard for producing BGL enzymes at a reasonable price, particularly for use in biorefineries.
