Title: Rates of 4p–4d Transitions in Ar II Calculated
Abstract: The rates for some 4p–4d transitions reported in recent experimental work by Belmonte et al. (2014) are significantly different from those in earlier experimental work by Rudko and Tang (1967), which is recommended in the NIST tabulations. There aren’t any theoretical rates available right now to contrast with. We present such theoretical data in this work. With an extrapolation process applied to ab initio mixing coefficients, we undertook a thorough and systematic configuration interaction calculation that results in energy differences that are consistent with experiment. Values from the length and velocity forms are within 10%–15% of one another. Our findings closely match those of Belmonte et al., so we can confidently suggest that their findings should be used instead of the preliminary findings of Rudko and Tang because they are significantly more accurate.
