Abstract: In a prior article (Bhatia A.K. 2016), S-wave phase shifts, annihilation, and positronium were calculated using a hybrid theory for the scattering of positrons from hydrogen atoms. cross sections of a formation. Currently, this method is being used to compute P-wave positron-hydrogen scattering. The results from the current calculation, which simultaneously used long- and short-range correlations in the Schrödinger equation, are in excellent agreement with those from an earlier calculation by Bhatia et al. (1974), which used the Feshbach projection operator formalism. The variational results in these earlier calculations were corrected as a result of the long-range correlations. The final results have been regarded as accurate even though this ad hoc correction destroyed the variational bound. Cross-sections of annihilation and formation of positronium Also provided are cross-sections that were calculated using the distorted-wave approximation.
