Title: Photothermal Therapy and Improvement Techniques Assisted by Gold Nanorods
Abstract: Since the last two decades, noble metal nanoparticles have been sought after in cancer nanomedicine due to their distinctive localized surface plasmon resonance that causes potent absorption. and the nanoparticles’ scattering characteristics. Noble metal nanoparticles are used frequently in photothermal therapy, which uses heat produced by laser irradiating the nanoparticles to kill cancer cells. Due to their strong photothermal conversion efficiency, long blood circulation half-life, and ease of adjusting their optical properties in the tissue penetrating near infrared region, gold nanorods have distinguished themselves as one of the main types of noble metal nanoparticles for photothermal therapy. after stealthy polymers have modified the surface. The optical characteristics of gold nanorods and their uses in photothermal therapy will be outlined in this review. We’ll also talk about new approaches that combine chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy with gold nanorod-assisted photothermal therapy to improve it.
