Title: Patients with non-small cell lung cancer’s proteomic biomarkers
Abstract: The 5-year survival rate for lung cancer is extremely low (6–13%) in all of the world’s countries. Non-small cell lung cancer is the histological subtype of this cancer that is most frequently diagnosed (NSCLC). The fact that patients are diagnosed with lung cancer in its advanced stages is primarily to blame for the poor prognosis for the disease, which includes NSCLC. The goal of this study is to compile information on fresh lines of inquiry into diagnostic biomarkers that could aid in the routine diagnosis of this cancer. Proteomic analysis has recently developed into a crucial tool for cancer biology research, working in tandem with genetic analysis. Mass spectrometry techniques are one of the many proteomic analysis techniques that allow for the highly precise qualitative and quantitative identification of hundreds of proteins in small volumes of various biological samples. These analyses might soon serve as the foundation for better lung cancer diagnostic techniques. The most recent reports on proteomic research related to the diagnosis of NSCLC are presented in this study. We present new potential proteomic biomarkers whose presence suggests the early onset of a neoplastic process. We outline biomarkers whose altered expression levels correspond with various cancer-related stages. Additionally, we offer protein biomarkers that aid in distinguishing NSCLC subtypes. Making an early diagnosis of NSCLC patients is crucial, but it’s also crucial to keep an eye on how the neoplastic disease is progressing. Given this information, we also provide examples of biomarkers whose abnormal expression may point to a high risk of lymph node metastasis. The importance of conducting additional research to confirm the usefulness of the described biomarkers in clinical practice is also emphasized in this paper.
