Title: Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who have epicardial fat as a sign of high cardiovascular risk
Abstract: The common link between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) has a detrimental effect on patients’ mortality and morbidity. Epicardial fat (EF) has been proposed as a marker of cardiovascular risk based on the currently available data, which primarily comes from cardiovascular studies. The potential use of epicardial fat as a new biomarker for COPD patient risk stratification is the main topic of this review. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary artery disease, may have a significant relationship thanks to epicardial fat.
