Description
Title: Particular Functions of Lipoxygenases in Plant Stress Response and Development
Abstract: Natural enzymes called lipoxygenases (LOXs) are found in a wide variety of plants and animals. LOXs can be redox enzymes that contain manganese, non-heme iron, or non-sulfur iron dioxygenases. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are transformed into fatty acid hydroperoxides by LOXs. Linolenic acid, a precursor in the biosynthesis of jasmonic acid (JA), is oxygenated by LOX, allene oxide synthase, and allene oxide cyclase to produce 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid. Additionally, JA takes part in numerous other physio-biochemical processes, such as fruit ripening, senescence, and seed germination. Abiotic stress, which includes wounding, UV rays, extreme temperatures, oxidative stress, and drought, and biotic stress, which includes insects, pests, and pathogenic attacks, both depend heavily on LOXs.
