Title: Natural Killer Cells in Pregnancy: Their Function and Related Complications
Abstract: The human endometrium contains a significant amount of leucocytes, which are distributed differently during menstruation and pregnancy. Decidual natural killer (dNK) cells are the most prevalent kind of natural killer (NK) cells in the uterus during early pregnancy. Interest in their role during pregnancy has increased due to the rise in uterine NK (uNK) cells during the mid-secretory phase of the menstrual cycle and subsequent rise in dNK cells in early pregnancy. Numerous studies have revealed that dNK cells play a variety of roles during pregnancy, including the development of new blood vessels, trophoblast migration, and immunological tolerance. The importance of NK cells during pregnancy and their function in conditions related to pregnancy are the main topics of the current review article. The article will give a thorough analysis of the cellular and molecular interactions that occur during pregnancy and disorders that are related, with NK cells playing a key role. Furthermore, by shedding light on the physiology of a typical pregnancy and its associated complications in relation to NK cells, this study will aid researchers in developing future studies that will aim to lessen the complications.
