Title: Mechanical Aspects of Electrospun Scaffolds for Regenerative Engineering and Myocardial Tissue
Abstract: The use of biomaterials to help restore cardiac tissue is becoming increasingly important. While there are many factors to take into account when designing biomaterials, mechanical properties may be particularly crucial in this tissue that is constantly remodeling. The electrospinning processing technique, which is used to produce materials with a fibrous microstructure that can be combined with material properties to achieve the desired mechanical behavior, is the subject of this review. Currently used methods to create micro/nanofibrous scaffolds with mechanically relevant properties, Typical methods to describe the scaffolds’ mechanical properties are covered, as are in vivo studies using these scaffolds as therapeutics. We also go over the differences between the reported The literature on elastic modulus for healthy and unhealthy myocardium as well as the burgeoning field of in vitro mechanobiology studies to look into the mechanical control in cardiac tissue engineering. Finally, suggestions and future perspectives are provided to advance knowledge of cardiac mechanobiology and encourage the growth of therapeutics in myocardial regenerative medicine.
