Title: LABEL SIMILARITY AND SUBGRAPH EDIT DISTANCE AS A NEW APPROACH TO AUTOMATED BEHAVIORAL DIAGRAM ASSESSMENT
Abstract: As one of the standard languages used in modeling software, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is widely taught in many universities. The majority of the time, teachers assign their students to create UML diagram designs based on a predetermined project; however, grading such assignments can be difficult, and teachers may not consistently grade their students’ responses. As a result, maintaining assessment consistency requires automated UML diagram evaluation. Since a behavioral diagram is a UML diagram that is frequently taught, it is used in this study as the research object. The software can be seen dynamically in the behavioral diagram. This study suggests a novel method for automatically determining the similarity of behavior diagrams with the same degree of accuracy as experts. Semantic assessment and structural assessment make up the two parts of the evaluation. While subgraph edit distance is used to determine structural assessment, label similarity is used to determine semantic assessment. The findings suggest that in determining the similarity between two behavior diagrams, the suggested approach is as trustworthy as a professional. The observed agreement value indicates that the use of experts and the suggested approach are strongly in agreement.
