Title: Isotope changes and hyperfine structure in Dy II
Abstract: We have measured the hyperfine structure (hfs) of 14 levels and four additional transitions in Dy II as well as the isotope shifts (IS) of 12 transitions in the 422-460 nm wavelength range using fast-ion-beam laser-fluorescence spectroscopy (FIBLAS). These precision readings in Dy II are the first of their kind. Within 3 GHz of the targeted transitions, new undocumented transitions were found in addition to hfs and IS. Due to their ability to account for saturation and the effects of blended lines, these atomic data are crucial for astrophysical studies of chemical abundances. The mechanisms and background of cosmic nucleosynthesis as well as the diffusion modeling of stellar interiors depend on lanthanide abundances. In addition, Hfs and IS serve as a standard for theoretical calculations of atomic structure and are significant in the classification of energy levels.
