Title: Institutional Change and Macroeconomic Variables in the ASEAN—Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia: The Effects of a Trade War between China and USA
Abstract: The trade tariffs on imported goods entering each of these countries increased as a result of a trade war between the United States and China. The demand for exports will have an impact on Southeast Asian nations that trade with the two countries, particularly in terms of non-oil and gas exports of 25% to 35%. Additionally, the effects of the trade war will result in a decline in Southeast Asian countries’ or ASEAN’s GDP and an expansion of the current account deficit. On the other hand, the consequences of the trade war, which prompted foreign investors to choose to relocate their manufacturing base outside of China, will result in a flow of foreign investment that is ready to be seized by every ASEAN nation.
