Description

Title: Insect-Microbe Symbiosis: Molecular Basis, Insect Behavior, and Mechanism

Abstract: A variety of microbial populations that are frequently necessary and coexist with their hosts are supported by insects. In addition to affecting the fitness of their host, symbionts also influence the course of their phenotype. Long ago, this co-constructed niche successfully underwent advanced ecological specialization. The local microbes control host plant immunity and specialization to regulate insect nutrition. By eliminating and detoxifying the toxins that the predators secrete, it improves the fitness and performance of the host. Understanding the host-microbial system in various taxa relies on the profound impact that a microbial population has on the physiology and behavior of insects. Recent studies on the microbes that are associated with insects have shown that they have the ability to modify an insect’s brain functions and ultimately regulate its behavior, including its social interactions. Insects are now becoming a more viable potential model for studying human neurodegenerative diseases and behavioral dysfunctions thanks to the discovery of the gut microbiota-brain axis. This article reviewed our understanding of the intricate network of interactions between insects and microbes known as the insect-microbial system, as well as its mechanistic insight that maintains the balance of complex multi-organism systems and its prospects for the future. The mysterious molecular networks that control insect-microbial symbiosis will be clarified, revealing the puzzling behaviors of insects that may be used to control insect pests.
