Title: Inositol Derivatives from Solanum capsicoides Allioni Leaves with Anti-Inflammatory Activity
Abstract: The leaves of Solanum capsicoides Allioni were extracted with 70% EtOH to yield the eight new inositol derivatives known as solsurinositols A–H (1–8). We were able to obtain analytically pure compounds 1–8 through careful isolation using silica gel column chromatography and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). They had different acyl groups attached to different hydroxyl groups but shared the same relative stereochemistry on the ring. This was the first time inositol derivatives from this plant had been isolated. Numerous 1D NMR, 2D NMR, and mass spectral analyses were used to fully characterize the chemical structures of compounds 1–8. Using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced BV2 microglia, the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of each compound was assessed, and among the isolates, compounds 5 (IC50 = 11.21 0.14 M) and 7 (IC50 = 14.5 1.22 M) were found to have potential anti-inflammatory activity.
