Title: Influence of Early-Life Programming on Gut Microbiota Management in Broiler Chickens
Abstract: Trillions of microorganisms inhabit the chicken gut, which they use to influence host interactions and physiological and immune status through metabolic activities. Prior studies on the gut microbiota concentrated on inflammation, but it is now understood that these microbial communities play a crucial role in preserving healthy homeostasis by controlling the immune system. Additionally, through the mechanisms of competitive exclusion and the production of bactericidal molecules, the microbiota aids in reducing and preventing pathogen colonization of the gut. Due to the hatch window and standard hatchery procedures, newly hatched chicks have access to food after 36–72 hours of hatching in commercial settings. This delay hinders the growth and maturation of muscle, the immune system, and the gastrointestinal tract, as well as the potential inoculation of the healthy microbiota (GIT). It has been suggested that altering the gut microbiota may be a useful tactic for enhancing host health and productivity while preventing negative effects on gut health and the immune system. It may be possible to prevent certain metabolic disorders, weakened immunity, and pathogen resistance using early-life programming via in ovo stimulation with probiotics and prebiotics, which the broiler industry now faces as a result of commercial hatching and selection pressures imposed by an increasingly demanding market.
