Title: From Transcriptional to Post-Translational Mechanisms in MafA Regulation in -Cells
Abstract: The pancreas’ -cells are insulin-producing cells responsible for preserving normal blood sugar levels. A number of transcription factors that enable the proper expression of the cellular machinery involved in nutrient sensing and corresponding insulin secretion control pancreatic beta-cell maturation and function. MAF bZIP transcription factor A is one of the important elements in this regulation (MafA). MafA expression is lowered in type 2 diabetes, which aids in -cell dysfunction and the development of the condition. With numerous transcriptional and post-translational regulatory nodes, MafA’s molecular biology is intricate. Recognizing these complexities might lead to the discovery of therapeutic targets to improve -cell dysfunction. The function of MafA in healthy -cells and disease will be outlined in this article, with a particular emphasis on the transcriptional and post-translational regulators of MafA expression.
