Description

Title: Evidence from Yemen on Intention to Use E-Payments from the Perspective of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)

Abstract: This study investigates the primary factors that support using the current e-payment systems as well as the difficulties they face. Using a cross-sectional methodology, this study. As part of the data collection, a web survey of Yemeni consumers was carried out. SmartPLS4 and Jamovi software were used for structural model analysis and statistical analysis on the data from 486 questionnaires. The structural model’s R2 is 0.757, which explains the variances in behavioral intention via all the constructs, according to the PLS-SEM results. According to statistics, performance and effort expectations as well as social influence have a significant and positive influence on people’s intentions to use e-payment systems. Contrarily, behavioral intention is significantly and negatively correlated with facilitation conditions. This is explained by how consumers perceive the Internet service infrastructure, which has been shown to have no effect on Yemeni consumers’ behavioral intentions or acceptance of using electronic payment methods. The related hypothesis was not supported because, contrary to expectations, age does not moderate the relationship between performance expectancy, social influence, and intention to use e-payment systems. In order to help policymakers, designers, developers, and researchers better understand the ethical implications of using the electronic payment system, this study offers helpful recommendations. This study created a model to forecast whether electronic payments will be accepted in a nation that hasn’t given the problem enough attention. This study presents an application and assessment of the UTAUT model in Yemen.
