Title: Entrepreneurial self-efficacy and motivation’s effects on small business success in the food and beverage sector in East Java, Indonesia

Abstract: The study aims to investigate how entrepreneurial self-efficacy and motivation affect the success of micro and small businesses in the food and beverage (F&B) sector (MSEs). Purposive sampling methods were used to choose the sample from 267 MSE owners of food and beverage businesses in East Java, Indonesia’s Madiun City, Madiun Regency, and Magetan Regency. The test results for the hypothesis revealed that: (1) self-efficacy entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial motivation are both significantly positive for business success in small and micro food and beverage businesses in East Java, Indonesia; (2) entrepreneurial motivation serves as a partial mediator of the influence of self-efficacy entrepreneurship on the success of small and micro food and beverage businesses in East Java, Indonesia; and (3) simultaneously The findings demonstrated the importance of self-efficacy and motivation in entrepreneurship as they have an impact on business success, particularly in Indonesia’s micro and small F&B businesses. By extending the research domain and focusing on different creative industry businesses, future research can examine additional factors that affect business success. By broadening the scope of the research, future studies may examine additional elements that affect business success, such as innovative work practices and entrepreneurial leadership.
