Abstract: According to studies on competency in various professions, purposeful practice is the most crucial component in knowledge acquisition. “This type of training needs time, individual motivation, effort, feedback, and perseverance to reach performance levels higher than those now attained. When creating their materials for use in English language classrooms, the two experienced authors of textbooks for English language education who took part in this study used the writing processes of assessing, writing it down and incubating to put the rigours of purposeful practice to use. The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and National Science Foundation (NSF) both provided funding for this study (ELT). Participants made conscious use of these processes as metacognitive strategies to improve the effectiveness of their writing, according to the data obtained primarily through concurrent verbalization, in which participants spoke their thoughts aloud while working on a textbook and pre- and post-concurrent verbalization interview.” Participants who talked out loud while working on the textbook proved this. This was demonstrated by the fact that the participants spoke their ideas aloud while completing the textbook. In this context, “metacognition” refers to the participant’s awareness and understanding of the mental and cognitive processes in which they are now involved. The results also point to practical strategies that people whose job is to offer language acquisition resources may implement in their particular fields. This work adds to our understanding of the textbook production process, which has significant implications for the research area that focuses on creating materials. This research also advances our knowledge of the textbook publishing process
