Title: Current Knowledge of Ventricular Tissue Biomechanics in Heart Failure
Abstract: Ventricular dysfunction is the most frequent cause of heart failure, which is the world’s leading cause of death. The ventricles’ anisotropy and viscoelasticity are well-known.In diseased states, tissues’ mechanical characteristics change. The mechanical behavior of the tissue plays a significant role in determining how well the ventricles work. The purpose of this paper is to review current knowledge of the clinical importance and ventricular biomechanics. We discuss typical techniques for measuring the mechanical characteristics of ventricles, known ventricular mechanical characteristics, such as the tissue’s viscoelasticity, current computational models, and the clinical significance of the ventricular mechanical properties. Last but not least, we make some recommendations for future research to clarify the roles of ventricular biomechanics in ventricular dysfunction and to motivate new treatments for people with heart failure.
