Description
Title: Children with Central Nervous System Cancer: Palliative Care
Abstract: Children who have malignancies of the central nervous system (CNS) frequently have a high symptom burden and a high mortality risk. The goal of pediatric palliative care, which is delivered by an interdisciplinary team, is to improve quality of life and lessen suffering for children and their families who have life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. All neuro-oncology care providers can and ought to develop primary palliative care skills, which include fundamental symptom management, facilitation of goals-of-care discussions, and hospice transition. The foundations of providing primary pediatric palliative care will be covered in this chapter.
