Title: Cardiac Glycosides’ Potential Drug Development: Present and Future Aspects for Cancer Therapeutics
Abstract: Natural sterols known as cardiac glycosides are a class of secondary metabolites that have been isolated from both plants and animals. Since they can speed up cardiac contractions by acting on the cellular sodium potassium ATPase pump, these cardiotonic agents are well known and accepted in the treatment of various cardiac diseases. However, a growing number of recent initiatives have been concentrated on investigating these compounds’ antitumor and antiviral potential. In light of numerous reports indicating their antitumor effects, cardiac glycosides (CG) now represent the most diverse naturally derived substances are highly advised for the treatment of different cancers. Transcriptional regulators that are mutated or dysregulated have also attained prominence as potential therapeutic targets. In order to highlight potential therapeutic targets in cancer management, we have investigated the most recent developments in CGs-mediated cancer scope and taken into account a number of signaling pathways, molecular aberrations, transcription factors (TFs), and oncogenic genes.
