Title: Atomic Database, XSTAR
Abstract: We provide an overview of the atomic database used by the XSTAR spectral modeling code, as well as a summary of the recent extensions to handle high-density plasmas and the systematic upgrades made over the past 20 years to enable the modeling of K-lines from chemical elements with atomic number Z 30. These plasma environments, which emit rich data about the system’s physical characteristics, can be found, for instance, in the inner region of accretion disks round compact objects (neutron stars and black holes). We want to provide a solid modeling tool so that users can benefit from the exceptional spectral capabilities of the upcoming X-ray space telescopes (like XRISM and ATHENA), which will be launched. To enhance the database provenance metadata, data curation-related issues are discussed, and an updated list of references sources is compiled. The ISMabs absorption model and the uaDB database, two XSTAR spin-offs, are also discussed.
