Description

Title: asthma and diabetes mellitus co-occurring conditions, possible causes, and treatment options

Abstract: The epidemiological data and routine medical practice both show that patients with asthma also frequently have different types of diabetes mellitus (DM). The relationship between the risk of diabetes mellitus (DM) during pregnancy, asthma, and the effects of these diseases on the mother and her unborn child are specifically explored. The debate over the effects of an inflammatory condition associated with asthma on carbohydrate metabolism and the presence of chronic hyperglycemia and inflammatory markers in asthma patients is still up for debate. It has been suggested that immune system dysfunction and genetic predisposition are related to asthma and type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), and that obesity and insulin resistance (IR) play a crucial role in promoting an excessively proinflammatory immune response in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). According to the data, DM and asthma both have an impact on one another’s clinical manifestations, prognostic factors, and treatment options. Despite the suggested role of metformin and the hyperglycemic effects of glucocorticoids, there is still debate over the most effective and secure anti-asthma and hypoglycemic therapies for this population of patients. As a result, the goal of the paper being presented is to review what is known about the connection between DM and asthma, as well as the potential for treatment.
