Title: A Review of Probiotics’ Role in the Prevention and Treatment of Cancer
Abstract: Probiotics are living microbes that are essential for the host’s overall health. One of the most important factors in preserving homeostasis is the gut microbiota. One of the leading causes of death in the world today is cancer. Despite the recent focus on cancer treatment, the number of people who experience neoplastic syndrome is steadily rising. Despite significant advancements in cancer therapy, it has been difficult to combat cancer because of the various characteristics of cancer cells and their capacity to subvert the immune system. By strengthening the epithelial barrier and encouraging the production of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticarcinogenic compounds, probiotics modify the immune system and cellular responses, thereby reducing the incidence and spread of cancer. The focus of the current review is on the various mechanisms underlying probiotics’ ability to prevent and treat cancer.
