Title: A Less Paved Road: Sudha Murthy’s Children’s Book

Abstract: Because of the widespread dissemination of well-known traditional stories from India, like the Panchatantra Tales, the Jataka Tales, the Hitopadesha, Kathasaritsagara, Ramayana, and Mahabharata, India is sometimes credited with being the birthplace of children’s literature. On the other hand, there is still a long way to go before the international literary canon recognizes children’s literature as a separate area. Because of the poor profit margins on the printing and artwork of children’s books, children’s literature written or translated into English has never truly gained the top position in India. This is because children’s books’ printing and artwork are inexpensive. As a result, it remains a mostly untapped field in terms of publications and scholarly conversation. However, the interaction of European literature, especially that of England and the English language, with Indian literature opened the way for the creation of children’s literature as a unique genre in Indian English studies and, as a result, for the development of modern children’s literature in India that is affected by the global community. In this article, an attempt is made to evaluate Sudha Murthy’s influence on children’s literature.
