Title: A Bibliometric Evaluation of University-Industry Collaboration
Abstract: Cooperation between universities and businesses is associated with the transfer of knowledge and technology. This collaboration is a vital area of study for the global economy, as it helps businesses become more competitive. Using bibliometric analysis as a methodology, the present study seeks to explore and evaluate the literature on university-industry collaboration. This study will employ a novel methodology to conduct a literature review and map the most pertinent research studies, based on scientific documents published in the Web of Science database with the keyword “University-Industry Cooperation.” The 256 collected articles with a time range between 1970 and 2020 were submitted to R Bibliometrix for content analysis. This systematic review of the literature revealed that companies are placing an increasing emphasis on collaboration with universities. The analysis of these publications indicates a rising trend in the publication of articles on the subject of “university-industry cooperation.” From the bibliometric analysis of the global research results, we highlight the most-cited authors and the authors’ publications over time, as well as the most-studied topics and nations. On the other hand, we also highlight the evolving network of collaboration between institutions, authors, and nations. This article explores the University-Industry collaboration as an added value for advancing scientific knowledge on the relationship between these two significant stakeholders, paving the way for future research in this area. With this article, we hope to contribute to the evolution of scientific knowledge in this field by providing future researchers with a comprehensive radiography overview of the literature pertaining to University-Industry cooperation, thereby helping to fill a void caused by the paucity of SLR studies focusing on this scientific topic.
