Title: The Pathology and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease Using Amylin and Secretases
Abstract: Alzheimer’s disease continues to be a common neurodegenerative condition with numerous negative effects on patients, society, and their physical, emotional, and financial well-being. Therapeutic small peptides have been the subject of more research in the last ten years. The profile of these biomolecules’ fundamentally sound traits makes them an intriguing target for the development of new drugs. Alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and amylin-secretases are four modulatory mechanisms among these biomolecules that are of interest in this review. All of these protease-based biomolecules play a part in the amyloid cascade theory. Furthermore, these peptides are connected by a number of biochemical pathways to share regulators (i.e., retinoids). To better comprehend its potential use in patient care, more clinical and translational research must be conducted. This narrative review’s objective is to assess the most recent research on these protease biomolecule modulators and determine how effective it is for treating Alzheimer’s disease.
