Title: Scutellaria Genus Phytochemical Profiling and Bio-Potentiality: A Biomedical Approach
Abstract: More than 360 species of Scutellaria (Lamiaceae) exist. Its calyx, also known as the skullcap, has morphological characteristics that indicate it is a herbaceous plant with a cosmopolitan habitat. Local communities frequently use Scutellaria species as natural remedies. The genus played a part. More than 300 bioactive compounds, primarily flavonoids and phenols, are chemical components that have the potential to be used in the treatment of a variety of biological activities. Consequently, the goal of the current review is to emphasize the biological significance and its connection to various Flavonoids, terpenoids, phenols, alkaloids, and steroids are isolated bioactive ingredients. Flavonoids, however, were the most prevalent group found. The research on the Scutellaria shows that it has a wide variety of pharmacological effects because of its abundant base of various chemical ingredients. antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifeedant, enzyme inhibitory, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic significance potentials. Various bioactive components from the genus Scutellaria are currently being examined in vitro and in vivo for a variety of biological activities. These data also assist us in highlighting its biomedical application and in identifying the responsible compounds in order to develop novel drugs as synthetic drug alternatives.
