Title: For the delivery of drugs and biological agents in wound healing applications, electrospun fibers are used as a dressing material.
Abstract: The complex process of tissue regeneration known as wound healing encourages the growth of new tissue, giving the body the necessary barrier from the outside environment. in the group of The clinically available dressing materials (such as gels and creams) for non-healing wounds, diabetic wounds, and ulcers have shown only a slow improvement with the currently available technologies. Electrospun fibers, when compared to other current technologies, have a number of qualities that could lead to the development of new dressing materials for the wounds mentioned above. We therefore concentrate on recent developments in electrospun drug-eluting fibers for wound healing applications in this review. With regard to wound healing, we specifically examine drug release from electrospun fibers, including small molecule medications, proteins and peptides, and gene vectors. We also give an overview of electrospun fiber-based multifunctional dressing materials that can perform wound debridement and wound healing simultaneously as well as multi-drug loading/types that are appropriate for different stages of the healing process. In order to help the field in the development of fiber-based dressing materials for the clinical treatment of non-healing wounds, our review offers significant and adequate information.
