Abstract: By combining cells, scaffolds, and growth factors, tissue engineering (TE) creates functional tissues for the repair or replacement of tissues and organs. The development of cardiac cells, tissues, and structures—most notably the heart—is the focus of cardiac TE. The requirements are presented in this review. challenges and investigations surrounding electrospun scaffolds and cardiomyocytes (CMs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for use in TE hearts. Because it creates fibers that exhibit the best potential for simulating the intricate structure of the cardiac extracellular matrix, electrospinning is a desirable fabrication technique for cardiac TE scaffolds (ECM). Theoretically, iPSCs can produce an endless supply of CMs for use in TE hearts, but these iPSC-CMs are immature in terms of their electrophysiology, morphology, mechanical properties, and metabolism when compared to adult CMs. This imposes a functional restriction on their application in cardiac TE, and this review presents research designed to overcome that restriction.
