Title: Skin Repair Using Stem Cell Extracellular Vesicles
Abstract: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) from stem cells have received extensive research due to their excellent therapeutic potential. EVs from various stem cell types can enhance vascularization in addition to help in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. The skin is a delicate organ that can sustain a variety of wounds. Results from techniques using stem cell EVs to restore the integrity of epithelial tissues have been encouraging. Different stem cell EV populations have the power to reduce swelling, speed up skin cell migration and proliferation, reduce scarring after wounds, enhance angiogenesis, and even lessen the appearance of skin aging. It remains difficult to produce these stem cell EVs on a large scale for use in human therapy. This review focuses on recent studies that investigate stem cell EVs’ potential for skin wound healing and skin rejuvenation as well as the difficulties associated with using them as a therapeutic intervention.
