Abstract: The development of new dental restorative materials is being aided by the exclusive and pertinent capabilities that have been unlocked by advances in nanotechnology. Beyond their conventional function as filler, metal oxide nanoparticles and nanotubes perform tasks that are pertinent to a variety of dental purposes.  reinforcement: they can deliver calcium phosphate compounds, release ions from their inorganic compounds that harm oral pathogens, provide contrast during imaging, defend dental tissues from bacterial acid attacks, and increase the mineral content of the bonding interface. Because dental adhesives and composites are the most frequently used restorative materials in routine dental practice for tooth restorations, metal oxide nanoparticles and nanotubes are advantageous for these applications. The most frequent reasons for the failure of composite restorations and bonding interface in the clinical setting are secondary caries and material fractures. With a focus on the novel advantages of antibacterial properties and how they relate to their translational applications in restorative dentistry, this review discusses the significant capabilities of metal oxide nanoparticles and nanotubes incorporated into dental adhesives and composites. We closely monitor the development of  to complete specific and complex biological tasks to combat secondary caries calls for extensive interdisciplinary cooperation in the development of modern antibacterial dental materials. We enhance our discussion of clinical application requirements for dental composites and adhesives containing metal oxide nanoparticles and nanotubes. We hope that readers will fully understand the vast potential of using metal oxide nanoparticles and nanotubes to create new dental materials and be motivated to pursue further interdisciplinary research in this field.
