Title: Extracellular Vesicle Bioengineering: A Next-Generation Cancer Therapeutic Approach
Abstract: Exosomes and extracellular nano vesicles provide strong evidence for intercellular communication. Cargo proteins, lipids, micro (mi)RNAs, long noncoding (lnc)RNAs, small interfering (si)RNAs, DNA, and other functional molecules are transferred during exosomal intracellular signal transduction, which is crucial for controlling tumor growth and metastasis. Exosomes, however, may be a useful tool in the development of anticancer therapies, according to recent research trends. Most of the bioengineering uses for created exosomal cargoes are covered in this review. It also includes how precise therapeutic approaches in the treatment of cancer may be achieved through the manipulation and delivery of particular cargoes, such as noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), recombinant proteins, immune-modulators, chemotherapeutic drugs, and other small molecules.
Keywords: exosome; bioengineering; immunotherapy; exosomal cargo delivery; recombinant proteins; ncRNA; chemotherapy
