Description
Title: A Network Perspective on Alveolar Regeneration in COVID-19 Patients
Abstract: Viral nucleic acid is introduced into and replicated within a host organism during a viral infection, which causes biochemical and structural changes in the host cell. Lung damage may result from the SARS CoV-2 virus when the host immune system is overactive. Even though the two protective host responses are the regeneration and fibrotic repair processes, persistent injury can result in excessive fibrosis, a pathological condition that can cause lung collapse. In this review, we discuss the processes of alveolar regeneration and fibrosis in response to SARS-CoV-2 and offer our opinion on how patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may experience this process.
