Title: On-Demand Biosensors for Immune Checkpoint Blockade Therapy Monitoring and Early Cancer Detection from Liquid Biopsy
Abstract: The development of biosensors to identify biomarkers and immune checkpoints for the detection and measurement of cancer through liquid biopsies has recently attracted a lot of interest. Compared to the industry standard of tissue biopsies, the detection of cancer biomarkers from a small amount of blood is relatively quick. Traditional immuno-histochemistry (IHC) calls for the use of invasive methods to obtain tissue samples, specialized knowledge, and high-tech equipment. Additionally, IHC assay turnaround times are typically several days. On-demand biosensor-based assays were created to give clinicians more immediate prognostic information in order to address these issues. Physical and biochemical techniques have been studied to sense biomarkers quickly, highly precisely, and with high sensitivity. Additionally, the quick assessment of cancer prognosis from liquid biopsies has been made possible by interest in immune checkpoints. For the measurement of soluble cancer or immune checkpoint (IC) markers from liquid biopsy samples, these devices typically combine different classes of detectors with digital outputs. These sensor devices have two major benefits: (a) only a small amount of blood must be drawn from the patient for analysis; and (b) they may help doctors quickly choose and determine the best therapy regimen for patients (such as immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy). With a focus on the development of biosensors for IC marker detection, we will update you on potential cancer markers, different biosensors used in cancer diagnosis, and the corresponding limits of detection in this review.
