Title: Functions of sodium fluoride (NaF) in both soft and hard periodontal tissues on a biphasic basis
Abstract: In clinical dentistry, sodium fluoride (NaF) is frequently employed. NaF administration, whether at high or low concentrations, serves a variety of purposes in various tissues. NaF can be used more effectively in clinical applications if its various effects are understood. Studies involving NaF and epithelial, osteocyte, osteoclast, and periodontal cells have suggested the important functions of fluoride treatment. The biphasic functions of NaF as they relate to both soft and hard periodontal tissues, various diseases, and clinical dentistry are discussed in this review.
