Title: How far has science come in developing clinical applications for hormone therapy for gynecological cancers?
Abstract:Hormone therapy has emerged as a remarkable cancer treatment option in recent years. In order to stop or slow the growth of gynecological cancers, hormone therapy uses drugs that either lower hormone levels or inhibit their biological activity. The way hormone therapy works is by preventing the growth of cancer cells caused by hormones. As effective treatments for vulvar cancer, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, uterine cancer, and ovarian cancer, aromatase inhibitors, anti-estrogens, progestin, estrogen receptor (ER) antagonists, GnRH agonists, and progestogen are available. The success rate of hormone replacement therapy is high. Particularly in women with human papillomavirus infection, progestogen and estrogen replacement are linked to a lower incidence of gynecological cancers (HPV). Gene products of HPV may either increase or decrease the activation of estrogen via the transcriptional functionality of ER. Patients with hormone-sensitive recurrent or metastatic gynecologic cancers frequently receive hormonal therapy, though response rates and therapeutic results can vary. In light of the current knowledge gaps, this review describes the application of hormonal therapy for gynecological cancers.
