Description

Title: Copper’s Role in Cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s Disease Regulatory MiRNAs

Abstract: MicroRNAs (miRNAs), one type of non-coding RNA (ncRNA), are important regulators of differentiation and development. Transcriptional regulators in the cell control the generation of miRNA in response to various external stimuli. A heavy metal with many industrial uses, copper (Cu) is also a vital micronutrient. It participates in a number of crucial biological processes, including respiration, the maturation of blood cell lines, and immune responses. The relationship between the functional deregulation of miRNAs and the emergence of various pathologies as well as cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) has been thoroughly investigated in recent years. The relationship between Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which has a complex etiology and is the most common cause of dementia in older people, and Cu abnormalities is a subject of growing research. There is a direct interaction between the Cu pathway regulator COMMD1 and the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) HIF-1a in ischemic injury, but little is known about the function of Cu in AD-related hypoxia at this time. This topic is covered in the current review in an effort to structurally discuss the relationship between Cu dysregulation in AD and CVDs and miRNA expression.
