Title: A Sustainable Source of Nanomaterials for Agroecosystems: Trichoderma
Abstract: Traditional methods for synthesizing nanoparticles (NP) are expensive and produce dangerous byproducts. As high temperatures and pressure are used in chemical and physical processes, it is crucial to reduce the risk of chemical toxicity in the environment. Microbial nanoparticle synthesis, which combines microbiology and nanotechnology, is one of the green manufacturing techniques. A quick and environmentally friendly method of nanoparticle biosynthesis that uses the biocontrol agents Trichoderma and Hypocrea (Teleomorphs) has been reported in several studies, and it may be able to overcome the limitations of the chemical and physical methods of nanoparticle biosynthesis. This review places a focus on the mycosynthesis of various metal nanoparticles from Trichoderma species for use in agri-food applications. Mycogenic nanoparticles, which are derived from fungal cells or cell extracts, can be used as nanofungicides, nanofertilizers, plant growth promoters, nanocoatings, and other things. Additionally, Trichoderma-mediated NPs have been used in approaches for environmental remediation like pollutant removal and the detection of pollutants, including contaminants containing heavy metals. Also discussed are the potential advantages and disadvantages of creating practical products and methods for trichogenic NPs.
