Title: Dawn of a New Era for Proteomics Applications in Ovarian Cancer
Abstract: It is still difficult to detect ovarian cancer (OC) in its early stages. When diagnosed, the patients are in an advanced stage. Its etiology and molecular biology are distinguishable in this heterogeneous disease. Clinical diagnostic testing has changed as a result of next-generation sequencing, which enables simultaneous evaluation of multiple genes at a lower cost and faster rate than sequential single gene analysis. The analysis of the underlying molecular signaling events and the proteomic characterization of OC have advanced thanks to proteomics technologies like mass spectrometry (MS) and protein array analysis. A proteomics analysis of OC and their adaptive therapeutic responses may reveal novel therapeutic options that could potentially lead to better patient outcomes while reducing the emergence of drug resistance. It is critical to comprehend how the genomic and epigenomic heterogeneity inherent to OC manifests at the protein level and how this knowledge might contribute to increased survival.
