Title: The SARS-CoV-2 Antibodies: Diagnostic Usefulness and Vaccine Development Prospects
Abstract: In a variety of infectious diseases, antibodies (Abs) are vital immune mediators and potent diagnostic markers. A prerequisite for reducing disease burden in the community and assisting in the development of new diagnostic, therapeutic, and vaccination options is an understanding of humoral immunity or the development of efficient antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. In light of this, the function of antiviral antibodies in the detection and resistance to SARS-CoV-2 infection was investigated. Antibody testing demonstrated the potential to significantly improve the clinical management and routine diagnosis of COVID-19. They might also be crucial in COVID-19 surveillance, helping to understand the full extent of the illness. The success of passive immunotherapy and the development of a number of vaccines imply that anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies may one day be used to treat and prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection. In this review, we focus on the protective roles played by antibodies in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infection and provide an update on their protective roles in vaccine development and SARS-CoV-2 infection diagnosis.
